This is how not to be a web monster.

1, Have an area of specialisation.
Most web monsters are jacks of all trade and masters of none. They usually see themselves as the best in everything. A professional webmaster would have done his SWOT analysis and tak note of his strengths and weaknesses. He is willing to collaborate and learn. We all know the web is a very broad spectrum so one person cannot do it all. Most web monsters are also professional graphic desingers, php programmer, joomla specialist, e-commerce guru e.t.c while in reality all they ever churn out on the web space is JUNK.

2 Don’t be too cheap.
Just like in any profession, a poor renumerations equals poor quality of sertvice. That in essence has contributed to the large amount of trask currently now existent in the Nigerian internet domain. People like Opeyemi Awoyenmi on Jobberman stopped doing 10k websites as far back as 2005 while some web monsters here scowl aroind hunrily for 5k design jobs. Anyone who pays such an amount should no what to expect. It will only amount to an utter waste of money and time in the end.

3, Know your clients budget.
A professional webmaster will be interested in creating a website that suits his clients budget. He will also be interested in retaining his clientelle for future regular updates according to his clients budgetary capacity.
Most web monsters would rather set up any website at a flat rate and cares less about future updates and upgrades.

4, Think like a business owner.
A professional webmaster not only knows what a client wants but also knows what suits him perfectly well. Most clients just come up with a website model they want their own to look like but not all designs suits everyone perfectly. What works for Mr A might not work for Mr B. So it’s your job to find out what exactly your client wants and come up with a design that suits him well.
